Because this is apparently the season of new accounts, I now have a Dreamwidth, same username. I'm not moving, really, since most of the things/people I still lurk are still here on Livejournal, but I'm going to keep it as a backup in case everyone does suddenly move, or lj devours itself and becomes unusable or something. Tumblr I am finding to be good for looking at scads of fanart with no context (and frequently without sources) but useless for actually connecting or achieving anything. I don't know, it still seems confusing and kind of stupid to me. DW feels empty, but if lj inconveniences fandom too much I'm sure it will pick up eventually. Now I just have to wait for importing to go through.

Really, the only reason I'm doing this now is A) so that I'll already have a backup in case something happens and B) free signups require less effort than asking someone for an invite code and I am lazy.

Hell Week is over, and now it is break! Realistically, this means I should be working on comps, but I won't think about that yet.

Due to nagging from certain people, I now have a Tumblr... I'm sure it will be just as active as this journal. And is it just me, or is Tumblr designed to be as unnecessarily confusing as possible? I'm still a trying to figure out what all it does, exactly. Is there some sort of guide to all their stupid jargon somewhere? The help page does not seem terribly helpful.

My contribution for [info]babylon5_love

Um, so. A little-known fact: all of my iPods are named for Centauri ("all" may be a little misleading, I only have two, a shuffle and an older nano). I've toyed with the idea of making a case for my nano for a while, but never really came up with a design I really liked. Most people have cases to prevent their ipods from getting scratched, but my main concern is actually reducing the chance of it getting turned on by things knocking around in my bag and running down the battery. I'm not sure how well this will actually serve, but we'll see. Also I'm a terrible photographer, so if these pictures look a little blurry and weird, that's why. Sorry.

to the pictures! )

Hey, so, remember all those months ago, when I said I was going to paint myself a Transformer?

I finally finished )

Hurm
So, for the record, my LJ and my Facebook account are separate, and I would like them to remain so. Specifically, I do not ever want to have a link to my username floating around Facebook, connected to my real name, such that even the internet-challenged can connect me to this journal with a single click. I realize that a sufficiently determined person could probably connect the dots with enough googling/hacking/stalking, but it doesn't need to be easy.

Facebook is for people I know IRL. Facebook is so I can keep up at least the illusion of contact with people I don't see or talk to much anymore. Facebook is so I can pretend that I am a normal and reasonably socially acceptable person, so that if my future workplace or something is all "hey, let's google this chick's name!" they get silly, inane, but ultimately harmless crap. Facebook is so that older and more distant family members feel like they can keep up with my life, even if you had to be there for most of what I post to make sense.

Livejournal is not any of that. I don't post very much, but I still consider it the central hub of my fandom experience, which is mostly dedicated to being not real life. My fanfiction is all public, because I don't think I should make reader's lives difficult or require them to friend me, but that doesn't mean I want it published under my real name! I do not need, say, my mother, or my uncle or cousins, stumbling on a link to this journal and seeing all the shit from my early fandom years, or looking at my flist and discovering the smut I might have read, or whatever.

This unlikely to actually be an issue for me, since my presence on both Livejournal and Facebook is pretty small, and there are, like, three people on my flist whose IRL names I actually know, but the concept still bothers me a lot.

Basically what I'm saying is, I won't ever crosspost my posts to Facebook. I would appreciate it if no one else crossposted their comments on my posts there, either.

Now I think I need to make some new dummy email accounts.

Woo, I'm back! Now I get to begin the painstaking process of catching up on everything I've missed in the past week. In the mean time, have a meme it seems I missed out on:

Give me a character or pairing. I'll answer each prompt with a sentence (screw ten words, I like cheating grammar).

1. Angst
2. AU
3. Crack!fic
4. Crossover
5. First Time
6. Fluff
7. Humour
8. Hurt/Comfort
9. Smut
10. UST

Title: Twenty Moments in the Life of Astrid Damiell
Author: Lazulidragon
Character:Astrid
Word Count:OVER NINE THOUSAAAAAAND 9119
Warnings: A inordinately large number of OCs to fill out her family and such, one of whom is rather foul-mouthed, for which I apologize profusely.
Rating: PG-13?
Disclaimer/Notes/Whatever: I do not own Fire Emblem, nor am I profiting from this fanwork in any way. I'll bet you forgot I was even writing this, yeah? God knows I almost did. Originally I claimed this under the August theme list, but I kind of abandoned that a long time ago. Er, sorry. And I should probably add, spoilers for all of FE 9, and heavy influence from FE 10.

“I mean I will not marry him,” Astrid snapped, “and it does not matter what you say, I will not change my mind!” )

Damned if I know. I hate writer's block. Anyway, have a meme instead:

1. Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me."
2. I will respond by asking you five questions. I get to pick the questions.
3. You will post the answers to the questions (and the questions themselves) on your blog or journal.
4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the same post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions. And thus the endless cycle of the meme goes on and on and on and on.

Meme time again.

The first ten people to comment in this post get to request a drabble of any pairing / character of their choosing from me. In return, they have to post this in their journal, regardless of their ability. If you absolutely cannot write, I do not see why you would not be able to offer drawings or icons or something instead.

Don't be alarmed if I don't reply for a while, though. I have a lot of studying to do.
